BSc Occupational Therapy

Since graduating from Curtin University in Western Australia in 2013, Effie has spent her career developing knowledge and skills in the field of neurological rehabilitation. Effie has worked across the public and private health sectors in Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland, helping young and older adults regain independence following neurological injury.

Effie moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2017 and prior to founding Elevate Neuro Rehab (previously known as Coastal CIMT) with her long-time friend Kirstin, worked as the Senior Occupational Therapist on an inpatient rehabilitation ward.

Effie strongly believes that all people living with neurological conditions should have access to innovative and evidence-based therapies – a vision that led to the establishment of Coastal CIMT in late 2019. Effie is highly skilled in upper limb and complex neurological rehab and while she comes with a calm and compassionate nature – she’ll certainly push you to reach your potential.

Effie is passionate about continued learning and when she’s not hard at work with her clients she focuses her energy toward teaching other clinicians.

Effie understands that your rehab journey doesn’t stop at hospital discharge, and she is here to support you in the long haul to get back to doing the things you love.

Outside of the workplace you’ll find Effie in the garden or with a book in her hand and her dog Storm by her side.

BSc Occupational Therapy

Graduating in 2013 from Curtin University in Western Australia, Kirstin has since acquired a range of clinical skills in paediatrics, neurorehabilitation, mental health, acute care, and community-based practice. Kirstin also had the incredible opportunity to practice in England where she found her passion in upper limb neuro rehab. This formed a strong foundation for developing into the diverse and well-rounded therapist she is today, treating both adults and children with neurological conditions.

Kirstin founded Elevate Neuro Rehab in 2019 alongside her long-time friend and colleague, Effie. They established Elevate Neuro Rehab (previously known as Coastal CIMT) to develop a much-needed allied health neurorehabilitation service on the Sunshine Coast. A service dedicated to people requiring upper limb rehab in addition to physical rehab, delivered by clinicians with years of knowledge and experience working in neuro rehab.

Kirstin recognises the vital importance of using our hands and arms in everyday activities and the devastating impact a neurological condition can have on this. Kirstin has a positive, can-do attitude and approach. She is passionate about working with people of all ages to realise their potential, build their confidence and reconnect vital neural pathways between the brain and hand.

After training in adults constraint induced movement therapy (CIMT), children’s modified CIMT and bimanual training, Kirstin now focuses her skills working with children with hemiplegia (often with a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy). Kirstin continues to treat adults with neurological conditions and enjoys working with people across the lifespan.

Kirstin moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2019 for the outdoor lifestyle and for her love of nature and the ocean. When not at work you can find her playing sports, reading, hiking, enjoying the beach, camping, and spending time with her four-legged best friend Luna.
