Effie

BSc Occupational Therapy

Since graduating from Curtin University in Western Australia in 2013, Effie has spent her career developing knowledge and skills in the field of neurological rehabilitation. Effie has worked across the public and private health sectors in Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland, helping young and older adults regain independence following neurological injury.

Effie moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2017 and prior to founding Elevate Neuro Rehab (previously known as Coastal CIMT) with her long-time friend Kirstin, worked as the Senior Occupational Therapist on an inpatient rehabilitation ward.

Effie strongly believes that all people living with neurological conditions should have access to innovative and evidence-based therapies – a vision that led to the establishment of Coastal CIMT in late 2019. Effie is highly skilled in upper limb and complex neurological rehab and while she comes with a calm and compassionate nature – she’ll certainly push you to reach your potential.

Effie is passionate about continued learning and when she’s not hard at work with her clients she focuses her energy toward teaching other clinicians. 

Effie understands that your rehab journey doesn’t stop at hospital discharge, and she is here to support you in the long haul to get back to doing the things you love. 

Outside of the workplace you’ll find Effie in the garden or with a book in her hand and her dog Storm by her side.

Occupational Therapist

Tessa

Tessa is an experienced occupational therapist who is passionate about providing warm, empathetic, and person-centred care. She is dedicated to walking alongside individuals as they navigate challenges in their lives, supporting them to build confidence, regain function, and reconnect with what matters most. Tessa has worked across community and clinic-based settings throughout the East Coast of Queensland, with a strong focus on family-centred practice and truly connecting with people.

Her interest in neurological rehabilitation developed while studying at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Prior to graduating in 2019, Tessa was able to gain experience in a range of settings, but strong resonated with the role of occupational therapy in supporting people who have had a stroke, experiencing functional neurological disorder (FND) and other neurological conditions. She is continually inspired by the brain’s capacity to adapt and reorganise, and finds deep fulfilment in helping people rediscover independence and engage in meaningful daily roles.

Tessa is committed to delivering therapy that is evidence-informed, person-led, and practical. She joined Elevate to be part of a driven team dedicated to achieving long-term, functional outcomes that truly enhance people’s lives.

Outside of work, Tessa enjoys exploring the coastline with her dog, Hank (a very cheeky Cocker Spaniel)! As well as attending dance classes, and spending time outdoors with her partner. Tessa also has a deep interest in natural health and the body’s innate capacity for healing

  • Goal-directed training for helping clients achieve their daily activity goals (e.g. dressing, preparing meals, getting back to work, and managing fatigue)

Storm

Storm is our most experienced occupational furapist. He is an expert in providing affection and putting therapy equipment away. When not at work Storm enjoys sunbaking and chasing bush turkeys.
